The Cookie Jar offers luxurious accommodation in the heart of Alnwick. Our boutique hotel in Northumberland was formerly the Convent of Mercy and has been beautifully renovated to offer stunning rooms and suites.
Located in a historic building, our hotel offers a truly unique and indulgent experience. All the rooms are brimming with individual character and style. The interior design for the entire project was led by Matt Hulme, of Dynargh Design, a renowned interior designer. Matt was the designer behind many Hotel du Vins notably Newcastle, Cambridge and Edinburgh.
You can choose from 11 rooms which vary in size and style: 3 cosy, 5 luxury, 2 mother and 1 chapel suite. More beds can be hired. The Goswick room is fully adapted for disabled people and has a completely adapted wet room. The Chapel is the mother of all superiors and boasts historical features, including a beautiful stained-glass circular window. This room also includes oversized bathtubs for the perfect soaking experience.
Each room has received the utmost attention detail and come with gorgeous furnishings, blending classic with contemporary. The walls are adorned with fantastic artwork from local artists. On the ground floor is our residents lounge which is the perfect to enjoy either a cup of tea or indeed – that glass of wine.
We serve afternoon tea and lunch in our bistro – please check our website for opening hours.
A drying room on the ground floor provides heater cabinets and boot racks. A secure gun cabinet is available for those here shooting.
You can enjoy a delicious dining experience in our Bistro which overlooks our garden and terrace.
