Built in 1687 for a local wealthy landowner and remodelled and enlarged in 1792 into it’s current style, Incleborough has over the last century or so gradually lost much of it’s land but none of it’s character or grandeur. It still remains a stunning grade II listed country house. We have just completed a six-month renovation and conversion (using local builders and traditional materials where possible) into what we feel is North Norfolk’s newest and most exciting luxury retreat.
Set in a magnificent half acre of mature English walled gardens overlooking the Lower Common in the small fishing village of East Runton, it is just 300 metres from the beach.
We have a drawing room for the exclusive use of our guests at all times. It is intended to be a place for relaxation and, if you feel like it, a friendly chat. We deliberately do not have a television in this room, although we do have a hi-fi for a little background music. There is a real fire here for a little cheer on those chilly days and a computer Text taken from bandbstays.co.uk for guests to use (at no charge) for internet access.
We do not have a drinks licence, so cannot sell any, but you are very welcome to bring your own wine or other drinks and we will be pleased to let you have appropriate glasses for use either in the drawing room or in your own room.
All of our three bedrooms are individual and very different. Each one has luxury en-suite facilities with drench shower units and under floor heating.
The rooms have comfortable and spacious seating areas with LCD televisions receiving all free to air channels via Sky satellite. There are DVD players and units providing VHF radio with CD. Each room has a broadband access point for laptop computers.
Furniture and fittings are of the highest quality and tea and coffee making facilites together with small refrigerators (especially for fresh milk) are provided.
The Master Bedroom is on the first floor, with twin full height windows overlooking the garden and has a luxury six foot bed and remote controlled gas fire.
The Rose room, overlooking the pretty village common, has separate toilet and shower suites, a luxury king size double bed and a remote controlled gas fire.
The Ground floor room, named Oak Leaf, which also overlooks the common, has been sensitively designed for easy wheel chair access both in the bedroom and in the large en-suite. It has luxury twin beds which can be made into a six foot double if required.
Breakfast with its flexible timing is taken in the breakfast conservatory. We are open for 52 weeks per year, as a bed and breakfast, offering evening meals by arrangement from October to June. As an optional extra a Champagne breakfast will be available for guests in their rooms.
For dinner there are a variety of eating houses in the area. Within the village, and therefore within easy walking distance are two pubs – The Fishing Boat and The White Horse. There’s a bistro style restaurant next to the paper shop and Constantia, a fine Greek restaurant with live Greek music on most Friday and Saturday evenings (but be warned, this one gets booked up very early in busy periods)
In West Runton (1mile to the west) there’s The Village Inn which serves bar and restaurant meals, the Pepper Pot a small restaurant popular with local people and the Mirabelle which has a fine dining restaurant and a bistro.
Two miles further on, in Sheringham, there’s a big selection of eating houses. These include Marmalades, a small informal bistro, an Indian restaurant and a Thia one.
Likewise, in Cromer (1 mile to the east) the choice is wide and includes a Chinese restaurant and a modern style one, Jacques which is under the same ownership as the Mirabelle in West Runton.
