Set against the backdrop of historic Hadrian’s Wall in the heart of the beautiful, unspoiled Northumbrian countryside, Blenkinsopp Castle Country Inn is a remarkable former coaching stable dating back to the 13th century. Connected to a Grade I listed castle with ancient and historic origins, the inn is a true treasure trove of architectural character and heritage features.
Traditional in style, the inn is full of charm, with exposed wooden beams and a roaring open fire creating a warm and welcoming atmosphere.
We offer five comfortable bedrooms, including two doubles, one twin and two family rooms. Each room has its own external door, providing direct access to the outdoors and added privacy. All rooms are fully en-suite with separate showers and are equipped with tea and coffee making facilities, TV, and WiFi. Breakfast is included and can be enjoyed in the bistro or in the comfort of your room. In the evening, dine in the restaurant where you can choose from a delicious menu along with daily specials. Afterwards, unwind with a drink in the bar and soak up the lovely, warm ambience. Outside, a sun terrace and garden provide an ideal spot to enjoy the sunshine on brighter days.
In and around Greenhead, near Brampton, there are plenty of interesting places to visit that combine history, nature and family-friendly activities. Blenkinsopp Castle is a striking historic castle, rich in border history and set amid the dramatic landscapes of Northumberland. You can also explore stretches of Hadrian’s Wall and enjoy scenic walks at Walltown Quarry Country Park and the nearby Walltown Visitor Centre, where you’ll find great views and information about the Roman frontier. The impressive remains of Thirlwall Castle are just a short distance away and the acclaimed Roman Army Museum offers fascinating insights into Roman military life. For outdoor leisure, Talkin Tarn Country Park is a beautiful glacial lake and park perfect for walks, picnics or boating and Walby Farm Park is ideal for family days out with animals and activities. We are in one of the largest Dark Sky areas in Europe so great for star gazing on a clear night.
We are happy to pick up and drop off walkers within a 5 mile radius for a small cost.
